Studying Individual Support

What studying a Cert. III in Individual Support has meant to HIT student, Alicia

Alicia Munchow is studying her Certificate III in Individual Support with Health Industry Training. Here is what she had to say about her experience so far:

“Since I’ve been studying individual support, it’s been a big life changer.
I came in with no confidence, looking for answers to where I wanted to go in my career.

Since studying, I have found that the health industry has opened up avenues everywhere. You can start as a support worker and end up as a doctor, if you want.

It’s changed the way I am at home. It’s given me insight on how to be healthy and how to look after people, including my family.

It’s made me think that careers aren’t just something that you pick up and let go, that they can also be life-long.

I have met a great bunch of people from all walks of life that are pretty much in the same position as I am… we’re all going to move on to something better.

I’ve had a great trainer. She’s always made me feel comfortable and always helped when I’ve needed it.

By working and studying in this field, I feel that I’m going to be a positive influence for people in my community. I’ll be able to go out and refer people on to positive lifestyle changes.

And basically, be a good role model for my community, that makes the right choices.

I want to make sure that people are firm in their direction and that I can support them in the right thing to do.

In the long-term, I feel that studying individual support and being a support worker is going to get me a great career that will work with me and for me, so I can help people to achieve the best of their ability.

If I feel like I want to go further than being a support worker, it will give me the outlet to go further.”
